Organic Pet Superfood was founded by two brothers who are passionate about pets and nutrition. These passions compel us to be as careful about what we put in our pets’ bowls as what we put in our own mouths.
We want our pets to be as healthy, playful and pain-free as possible for the entirety of their lives and we know that sound nutrition is the key. So we’ve created supplements that are easy to use, econonical, and nutritionally comprehensive. The medicinal use of mushrooms has roots in ancient eastern medicine and is now being roundly affirmed in western laboratories.
Because of the proven adaptogenic* value of mushrooms to fill the typical gaps in pet nutritional health, specially formulated mushroom concentrates form the base of all Organic Pet Superfood products. We fortify this base with other research-supported medicinal superfoods—such as natural egg shell membrane—to target specific health issues common to pets.

WHO WE ARE
We’re James and Michael Crouch, two brothers living in Boulder, Colorado, who are passionate about pets and nutrition. Organic Pet Superfood came from a desire to blend our interest in pet nutrition with our family trade – our father has been a mushroom farmer in California since 1985.
Growing up on the farm taught us a lot about the medicinal value of mushrooms, the importance of sound farming practices and food sourcing, and power of whole foods for prevention, healing and overall well-being. So it’s always been second nature to make good food choices for ourselves and our families, but over time we realized it wasn’t as easy to take care of our pet’s nutritional needs. Scanning the pet-food aisle, we noticed huge gaps in pet nutritional options. Many of our friends’ dogs and cats were suffering from skin conditions, sore joints, digestive imbalances and even cancer. Lacking options to naturally prevent or treat these issues, most resorted to harsh pharmaceuticals to treat the symptoms instead of the causes.
So when we heard that medicinal mushroom blends were being used with great success as nutritional supplements for championship race horses, it gave us an idea. Maybe the same food principles that had served our family for so long—organic, responsibly farmed, whole food, and high quality—also applied to pets. So we started to do our homework. We read all the pet nutritional research we could get our hands on and interviewed immunologists, veterinarians and mycologists. The evidence was overwhelming: whole-food mushroom concentrates were a true superfood for pets, useful for everything from immune-response activation to reducing inflammation to cancer prevention and treatment. We knew we were on to something important.
So we put together a team of immunologists, clinicians and mycologists to test our formulations for safety and efficacy and…Organic Pet Superfood was born! It’s been extremely gratifying to find such a powerful way combine our family trade with our passion for pets and nutrition. We’re also committed to sustainable business practices that will ensure we all have safe places to play with our pets for years to come. As we develop our products and packaging we think about these things, which is why our packages are made out of recyclable cardboard paper tubes instead of plastic bottles – it’s more expensive, but we think it’s worth it.
